50 Days of Artpace: We All Begin Somewhere (Week 1)

Week 1 Recap

Wonderful Listeners,

Let me tell you, this first week was rough. Honestly, just adjusting to all of the responsibilities that I had was challenging, although I made it! Seriously though, being an intern can be a handful because you have to learn so much and get so much done, in such a short time. But, I mean, that’s why I’m interning now as it is.

I’ve already learned so much in this first week:

  • I’ve gotten a bit better with Microsoft Excel and I’m not afraid of it anymore
  • I understand part of the interviewing process and can do it myself
  • I know how to catalog items and digitize records
  • I know somewhat how to handle fragile archival materials
  • I can use an office printer and mail stamp machine

I mean, that’s not a whole lot but it’s definitely something alright! It’s more than what I knew how to do before. However, even though it’s been non-stop craziness, it’s been a good experience so far. I’m still blessed to have this opportunity but I did need a bit of prayer for my sanity.

Now, I think I’ll be OK. I’m continuing to move forward and life is pretty good honestly. Hopefully, I’ll be fully adjusted to this life of mine by next week sometime. I’ve got a good head on my shoulders so I’m not too worried.

But that is a wrap for Week 1 of my internship! Wow. Honestly, that’s all I can say is wow. But I do hope you guys enjoyed reading this post. I know that it was incredibly long but it’s not gonna change. This is the most efficient way for me to log all of this away so take your time with it.

I’ll have week 2 out as soon as I can. Until then, I really implore you to take your time reading this stuff. Who knows when my next post will be out? So until next time, cheers!
