It’s me, Carlos. Boy, the summer of 2017 has been quite a impactful one hasn’t it? In fact, it’s been so filled with memories that you’re having trouble writing this post, huh? Well, don’t fret. Baby steps. Just take this one thing at a time.
You know, last summer was one filled with work on work on work. You were slaving. Heh, but not this summer. You spent your summer doing the opposite, not working. Spending your days cooped up inside your parents’ house, in your childhood room, has been both a blessing and curse.
You’ve made a lot of memories in that room. And this summer, it just seems like you really embraced laziness. You managed to play through all of your video games—Murdered: Soul Suspect, The Last of Us, Okami, Life Is Strange, Watch Dogs, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Metal Gear Solid V, and Thief (all of which have brought hours of joy, fright, frustration, etc.)
I guess you can officially say you love of video games really does run deep. I mean, God only knows how many hours of sleep you’ve lost playing them or how many hours of eye strain you’ve accumulated. But, I have memories I probably will remember for quite some time.
I also spent a lot of time watching anime. In fact, I managed to re-watch and catch up on the Natsume Yuujin-cho series. I was THRILLED when I learned they were continuing the show again. *sigh* Well, who knows when they’ll add another episode right? But, I was also distracted with My Hero Academia, Hunter x Hunter (re-watching it for like the 3rd time), Attack on Titan, Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor, and… Wait, no. Those were the only shows. I still have a few more to watch as well…
But, somehow, I’m both saddened and comically entertained by the number of days gone by in the months between May and August, that I’ve spent high. I don’t even remember some days/nights because of indulgence, but then again, I’m always documenting my life in some way right? Honestly, if not for the pictures as reminders, there’s no way I would clearly remember.
And between car-hopping, sneaking in the night, and a few kickbacks, those high moments were good ones. I spent them with friends, spent them laughing so hard I’d cry, and spent them snacking on a number of goodies. (Speaking of which, I need to drop a few pounds since I haven’t been working out like that anymore.)
Ah, but how impactful would this summer have been if not for my introduction to Primerica. It’s funny how one’s opinion of something changes over time, but it’s starting to become a familiar environment for me to be in. After all, I’ve invested quite a bit into Primerica so there’s no backing out now! I’ve at least got to make my money back.
Peggy, Rudy, Frank, Kim, Letty, (Big) Carlos, Libby, Mom… You’re all familiar faces for Primerica. You’re my teachers and teammates. Alas, I still wish only my friends would actually join me for the ride; yet, it seems I must go on this journey without friends (and that’s been one of the hardest lessons to learn thus far.)
My journey still has ways to go obviously. I’ve only just gotten started. And I plan on doing big things, at least, I will try my best. That’s all I can do.
It’s crazy. The more I think about it, the less I do remember this summer. Not a lot of things happened, and yet so many things happened. But the days blurred together. So many days were spent doing absolutely nothing of importance. Then, other days were completely busy with responsibility. It’s crazy!
So… What did the summer of 2017 really amount to? Well, the best way to describe it is…
A LOT OF FUN. PERHAPS, TOO MUCH AT TIMES…
I can’t say that I’m happy with every single decision I made or thing I experienced over this summer. I can say that I did have a lot of fun and made a lot of memories. So, to the summer of 2017, I say thank you for everything! But now that summer’s at its end, I must look forward to more pressing circumstances… like working, debts, finding my own place, etc.
But I’ll save that for another time… Cheers!
